Funky Elephant will get the groove on with Tuomo, who has just released his latest album, The New Mystique. The calm jazz of his previous album, My Own Private Sunday, has taken a turn towards synthesizers and a more energetic and electronic drive. His latest album is an exciting mix of Justin Timberlake‘s pop/soul and Haim‘s 80’s sound.
Despite the 2010’s feel, his music is still founded on soul, and The New Mystique has received rave reviews from the critics as well as the general public.
In addition to his solo career, Tuomo Prättälä has employed his skills as a vocalist and musician in Quintessence, Q-Continuum, Emma Salokoski Ensemble, The Northern Governors and Ilmiliekki Quartet. Tuomo has also been touring with the jazz ensemble UMO.
He rose to prominence with his Motown-influenced album My Thing in 2007, which laid the groundwork for his next two albums. He has also received several awards, such as Emma and the Sony Jazz Award. He’s also been highly successful at our own annual Funky Awards.
